Our story

Lit Theatre Company puts creative engagement with communities at the heart of contemporary theatre. Co-creating new theatre, providing artist development, and supporting cultural education.

Our collaborative approach to all our work means the theatre we create is vibrant, powerful and a truthful cultural representation of Nottingham's communities. 

We are a place-based theatre company who co-create new theatre with communities in Nottingham, particularly marginalised voices. We provide quality cultural provisions for children and young people through our Arts Award programme and youth theatres. We steer gender equality within the sector with our Women in Theatre collective by providing development opportunities, support, and information for over 300 women.
